A Note From The Counselor
Welcome back to the start of another school year. I hope everyone had a fun and relaxing summer. As North’s School Counselor, I would like for you to be aware of the counseling services that are available for your child. My main goal is to help students be emotionally healthy and feel good about themselves so they can do their best in school. Working together for the best interest of your child is my goal.
INDIVIDUAL COUNSELING
Often students come to school facing particular difficulties. Changes due to a divorce, death or illness are hard to handle and may affect your child. If your family is experiencing a difficult situation, please let me know. I will try to help both your child and you with difficulties that may arise. There may also be problems at school, such as failing grades, adjustment problems or difficulty making friends. Your child may benefit from individual or small group counseling. Please feel free to call me at 773-0482.
CLASSROOM LESSONS
As part of the Noblesville Schools counseling program, I will be presenting educational classroom lessons for grades first through fourth during the school year. This year’s topics are conflict resolution, alcohol and drug awareness/body safety, bully proofing, stranger safety and career awareness. In Kindergarten, I will be teaching the lifeskills that are a part of North Elementary. We will be emphasizing the lifeskills of cooperation, responsibility, caring, effort, organization, flexibility, patience, friendship and perseverance this school year.
EDUCATIONAL SUPPORT GROUPS
At times, students can benefit from small group experiences with peers who share a similar interest or concern. During these group times, I can help students learn new skills, practice appropriate behaviors and share ideas, thoughts and feelings. Small group counseling includes 4-6 students per group who meet once weekly for approximately 6 sessions. The day and time will be arranged with the classroom teacher so as not to interfere with academic instruction. If you have a particular concern about your child, please discuss this with your child’s teacher or contact me directly. If you would like for your child to see me individually or in a small group, please contact me at school.
